Why Swimming?Half of all Americans can't swim. Drowning is the number one cause of death in children between the ages of 1 and 4. There are on average 10 deaths each day in our country due to drowning. We are surrounded by water on Hilton Head Island. Everyone that lives in the low country area should learn to swim to be safe in and around the water.
The hydrostatic properties of the water increase circulation and overall well-being. Swimming is a lifetime activity that will help keep the mind and body strong and balanced. The science of swimming and the effects on the human body have been studied and regular swimming can replace dead brain cells, strengthen and tone the body, and boost mental health and mood. Swimming is high intensity and low impact. It is easy on the joints. It is also a perfect recovery work out for an athletic person. The water supports and massages the body and you move and provides resistance for muscle toning and strengthening. Humans are 70 percent water. We come from the water and we will go back to the water. Every human body will float. Let's get in pool, find your float, and swim together. |
